Deciding to study in the U.S. is a big step, and it’s normal to feel both excited and nervous. Sometimes, hearing from others who have gone through the same experience can help make that decision easier. In this section, you’ll find real stories from Aruban students who took the leap, navigated the process, and are now studying or have studied in the U.S.
These stories are here to guide, motivate, and show you that you are not alone in this journey. Whether you’re still deciding or have already started the process, we hope these experiences give you insight into what life as an international student is like.
Like most Aruban students, I initially saw the Netherlands as the obvious choice for higher education. But when my dad mentioned the U.S. as an option, I started researching and quickly fell in love with the idea. Determined to make it happen, I earned my GED and set my sights on studying in the U.S.
Now, I’m a student at Valencia College, working toward an associate’s degree before transferring to a four-year college for Business with a major in Finance. Moving here was a big adjustment, but it’s been an exciting journey. The independence that comes with being a student in the U.S. has pushed me to grow in ways I never expected.
I created this website because, when I started this journey, I didn’t have a single place where I could find all the information I needed. I didn’t know where to begin, what steps to take, or where to get guidance. That’s where the idea for this website came from—I wanted to build a resource that takes you through the entire process, from start to finish, and beyond. Helping and guiding students has become my passion, and I hope that by sharing my experience, I can make your journey a little easier. At the end of the day, my decisions are mine, but maybe they can help you make your own.

Studying at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida as an international student from Aruba was an experience I'll never forget. The diversity of the student body and the support from the faculty made adjusting to life in the States easier than I could have imagined. One of the most valuable aspects of my time there was networking opportunities. I connected with people from all over the world, and those connections turned into real friendships some of which I still have to this day. The relationships I built not only expanded my personal network but also opened doors for career opportunities I never expected. If you're considering studying in the States, I'd recommend it a hundred percent. The experience is life-changing, and the opportunities are endless.

The U.S. offers a diverse and dynamic learning environment, where innovation and ambition are encouraged. Being here has allowed me to connect with people from different backgrounds, gain real-world experience, and expand my professional network in ways that wouldn’t have been possible elsewhere. The education here in the U.S. fosters critical thinking and hands-on learning, preparing students to excel in their careers. Choosing to study in the U.S. has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It has not only enhanced my academic and professional skills but also given me the confidence to pursue bigger goals. The opportunities available here are endless, and I’m excited for what the future holds while I pursue my Masters Degree here in Orlando.

Studying in the United States was an amazing experience. Coming from the Dutch school system, I found it easy to understand concepts and perform well on exams. One of the biggest advantages is the flexibility to change majors without losing years of hard work. When you're young, you don't always know exactly what you want to study, but taking different courses at UCF helped me discover the industry I want to be in. Looking back, choosing the U.S. over the Netherlands was a no-brainer, and I would make the same choice again.
